7 Rifles – Freedom Of Reading (Pt. 1)

“My training was tough but what I had expected and now I am looking forward to my next phase of training in Catterick”

Rifleman Khristian Quillinan (22) from Slough was part of the recruiting team from 7th Battalion The Rifles who were supported the Battalion as they exercised the Freedom of the Town of Reading on Sunday 8th May.

Khristian is a student at Reading University and is looking forward to a long career as an Army Reservist.

“I see my role as encouraging fitness within the Battalion and to be a mentor to our other PTIs (Physical Training Instructor)”

Taking part in 7 Rifles Freedom Parade in Reading on Sunday 8 May.

Sergeant David Snowling is attached to 7th Battalion The Rifles and is based in Reading.

David has been in the Army Reserves for 6 years and works for the AA in Basingstoke at their Head Office.  Sergeant Snowling who lives in Tadley (near Basingstoke) is responsible for organising and running all of the Battalion’s adventure training.

“I come from a military family and I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I enjoy my civilian job which is very 9-5, so being in the Army Reserve is the reverse – both jobs compliment each other”

Taking part in 7 Rifles Freedom Parade in Reading on Sunday 8 May, Rifleman James Hygate (24) from Basingstoke. James works as a sales manager for a manufacturing company and has been in the Army Reserves for 18 months.
